Building the Future Through Kijana Ajibika Running Clubs

By ADS Mt. Kenya Communications TeamTuesday, 4 August 2026
Three years ago, we asked a simple question: What if running could change a life? Today, across the Anglican Diocese of Mount Kenya, the answer is unfolding on dirt tracks, parish compounds, and village paths — one stride at a time. Kijana Ajibika (Youth, Stand Up) is the youth running club ministry of ADS Mt. Kenya, developed in partnership with World Renew and the Micah 6:8 Foundation. What began as a vision to get young people moving has grown into a holistic empowerment programme serving children aged 8 to 16, combining physical fitness with mentorship, life skills, and spiritual formation. More Than Miles Every club meeting is structured around four pillars: Running and fitness — building discipline, endurance, and teamwork through regular training Life skills education — 25 guided lessons covering health, relationships, decision-making, and personal responsibility Faith-based mentorship — connecting youth with caring coaches who model Christ-like character Community building — creating safe spaces where young people belong, compete, and grow together Through this framework, we are not just training runners. We are raising leaders, peacemakers, and changemakers.
