Anglican Development Services (ADS) Mt. Kenya, in collaboration with Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and other partners, is hosting a Renewable Energy Technology Farmers’ Open Learning Day at Limuru Dairy Cooperative Grounds in Kiambu County. The two-day exhibition brings together farmers, businesses, financial institutions, cooperatives, and other stakeholders to explore renewable energy technologies and innovative solutions for transforming the agri-food value chain. Held under the Scaling Up Renewable Energy Technologies in Agri-Food Value Chain Transformation Project (SRET), the event aims to build farmers’ capacity to adopt renewable energy solutions, improve agricultural productivity, reduce operational costs, and strengthen their livelihoods. Showcasing Renewable Energy and Agricultural Solutions The exhibition provides a platform for exhibitors to showcase products and services that support sustainable farming and rural development. These include solar and biogas technologies, agrochemicals, financial services, producer cooperatives, and educational institutions. Through practical demonstrations and knowledge-sharing opportunities, farmers can learn about available technologies, discover new approaches to farming, and engage with service providers who can support their agricultural enterprises. Building Farmers’ Capacity for Sustainable Livelihoods Renewable energy can play an important role in agricultural production by supporting activities such as irrigation, water pumping, and milk cooling, depending on the technologies adopted. Access to appropriate solutions can help farmers improve efficiency and explore ways to manage production costs. Through the SRET Project, ADS Mt. Kenya and its partners continue to support farmers in gaining knowledge and accessing solutions that promote sustainable agricultural practices and stronger agri-food value chains. The Farmers’ Open Learning Day reflects the importance of collaboration between farmers, technology providers, financial institutions, and development partners in advancing renewable energy adoption. Together, we are empowering farmers with knowledge, technologies, and opportunities for a more productive and sustainable agricultural future.
